Available Options
Liposomal glutathione is a bilayer formulation of glutathione encapsulated in sunflower phospholipids. Glutathione is a tripeptide compound composed of glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine, which performs a variety of important physiological functions in living organisms. Liposomes are artificial membranes, mainly composed of phospholipids and other components, which are similar in structure to biological membranes.
Role of liposomes
Improve stability:
Glutathione itself is chemically more active and is easily inactivated by oxidation and other factors in the external environment. Liposomes can provide a relatively stable environment for glutathione and reduce its exposure to unfavorable external factors. For example, in the gastrointestinal environment, liposomes protect glutathione from damage by stomach acids and digestive enzymes, allowing it to reach the site of absorption more intact.
The structure of liposomes contributes to the absorption of glutathione. Because the composition of liposomes is similar to that of biological membranes, it can more easily fuse with cell membranes or be taken up by cells. This property allows liposome-encapsulated glutathione to enter the cell interior more efficiently, thereby increasing its bioavailability. For example, after oral administration of liposomal glutathione, it may be absorbed more efficiently in the intestines than regular glutathione.
